Amoebae

Mastigamoeba aspera loves polluted waters. At the anterior
end one can see the nucleus with an inserted flagellum (see arrow) .

Amoebae do not form a consistent phylogenetic goup, but are found in various branches of the tree of life. Accordingly, one can find a broad range of morphological variations, e.g., flagellated forms.
