Achromatium oxaliferum cells with large crystals of
calcium carbonate and small sulfur droplets.
The bacteria can move slowly by a gliding mechanism. The cells are full of calcium carbonate crystals of unknown function. Sulfur droplets indicate that they are living from sulfide oxidation.
